F1: Tell us what it is, revealed

Mystery car games  revealed as Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Coupe Black Series

The subject of much mystery this week has today been revealed as the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Coupe Black Series.

Arriving in Australia via Emirates SkyCargo, the ‘Diamond White’ GT3-inspired AMG will be performing a number of duties at this month’s Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix in Melbourne. It is the first of 32 examples to arrive Down Under – all of which are sold.

Riding on chunky matte black alloys the C 63 AMG Coupe Black Series arrives with an optional AMG Aerodynamics package which includes an adjustable rear aerofoil (as pictured earlier this week), an enlarged front splitter and carbon fibre flics on the front bumper.

Power comes from a normally aspirated high-revving 6.3-litre V8 mated to a seven-speed MCT sports transmission. The engine develops an output of 380kW at 6800rpm and 620Nm at 5200rpm. Mercedes-Benz says the eight-cylinder mill consumes 12.2L/100km while emitting 286g/km of CO2. It accelerates the C-Coupe from standstill to 100km/h in 3.9 seconds when fitted with optional Dunlop Sports tyres and is electronically limited to a top speed of 300km/h.

"AMG has its roots in international motorsport. The C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series is the best proof there is for the permanent transfer of technology from the race track to the road, " explained Ola Källenius, Chairman of Mercedes-AMG GmbH. "The C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series also embodies the AMG brand claim of Driving Performance like virtually no other AMG model."
